Hi Guys,

Weight 1.42 g
Dimensions 9 x 11 mm

This very small coin had a tentative attribution of ⅛ paisa from Arcot (possibly Muhammad Ali), but this is extremely shaky and I can't find any confirmation in Krause or Zeno. So I don't think this is right.

The reverse appears to have a date 118X, where X might possibly be 6 or more likely 9. This would put it at approximately 1772-1775 AD.

If anyone recognizes this coin or has any thoughts about attribution, I'd be grateful to hear about it.

I there are no reactions, what's on the coin may not be very informative. Still, I remember agonising over ١١٧ before.

Searching the internet, I found a one-quarter paisa from Arcot that is similar in appearance and double the weight of this coin,

so I'm going to go ahead and attribute this as a one-eighth paisa from Arcot under Shah Alam II, likely AH 1189
