Hi, I am about to swap some coins on Numista and get in return this one. Could you, please, help me to get an idea is this a real or fake coin?

I know very litle about the Fat Man Dollars except there are many, many fakes. I came across this analysis by someone who seems to have studied them closely. I hope it's of some benefit to you, Cam.

Bruce is right. Fakes abound. The genuine coins are 26.4 gr, 39 mm, reeded edge, ↑↑. I like the way the shoulder board is worn, pointing at some wear (though it may be just the light), but I don't like the weight. Normally, the overweight would disqualify this coin immediately, but these were uncertain times. Likewise, the edge may be normal, but it is the standard edge I have come to expect on Chinese fakes.

I don't think there is enough evidence to (dis)qualify the coin just from the photo, but if it were me, I'd let it pass.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Thanks a lot for your advice, I'll pass this coin.

I've always done the same, cam, for peace of mind. If something seems off I just walk away. There's always another coin to consider later on.
