The issued coins.

China issued the so called 'junk dollar' in 1932. 

The obverse, like that of the patterns, featured Sun Yat-sen.

According to numista:

This type was unpopular because the design looked like it gave support to the Japanese.

It was quickly replaced by a design without birds or a rising sun.

From 1933 to 1949, the new design was issued.
