only a monogram, which looks like QT or TQ

QT catalogued in British Machine Tokens as Hayes 314. for  Qual-Tec Equipment Ltd.

Made by The Mint Birmingham, mintage approx. 250,000 introduced 1969, face value 6d/2½p, and used in fruit machines in the UK and abroad, in machines manufactured by Qual-Tec.

Good research, Malcolm! I seem to remember producers of similar stuff in Wales also. Perhaps there was something of a difference in Welsh law that attracted them or perhaps changing names every year is a traditional tactic to throw the English off the scent :)
