Stuart Devlin was highly critical of this approach.

He liked his coin designs to reflect the circular space that they occupied.

He's got a point. The design following the curvature of the coin is very appealing. I like these designs. Were they unadopted patterns then?

Yes, the lobster was unadopted. The prawn was used instead. Both animals are crustaceans, so they look similar in certain respects.
