I recently acquired this gold-plated base metal restrike, and am currently trying to attribute the reverse die. This may give a better idea of whether the piece was struck in Australia by Stokes, or in the UK by one of WJ Taylor's sons.
The token has the following characteristics: Diameter: 28.67mm; Thickness: 2.38mm; Weight: 10.93g; Edge: Plain
I believe the reverse was for some kind of employee check, but I have no idea what C.M. Might refer to.
The obverse die looks to have been for either the Port Phillip halfpenny or twopence - the diameter is very similar.
Any guidance or help will be appreciated!
