Bangladesh Commemorative Coin Booking
« on: October 20, 2020, 05:26:07 PM »
Hi, Please can someone provide me some details of Bangladesh commemorative coin booking process. Can this be done online? Which branch of Bangladesh bank sells these? Who can book etc.
Thanks.
Sudip.

I do not know exact answer for your question (whether Bangladesh Bank sells collector coins directly or ships them outside Bangladesh) but I would recommend not to order things like coins via post from Bangladesh for a number of reasons. In fact, it may be cheaper to buy them from dealers outside Bangladesh and it would be much safer too...

Thanks Aditya. I was thinking of ordering them through some of my acquaintance in Bangladesh. But I need to tell them about the availability etc.

This year Bangladesh has issued silver and gold coins on centenary of Bangabandhu birth.

Many thanks Pabitra. The procedure for foreign collector seems to be complicated.

If you are planning to order gold coins via post (not just from Bangladesh but any other country), you may want to reconsider that thought. Very light weight gold coins (1g/2g) can still be ordered by post with some risk involved, but above that, custom department will give you nightmares.

Ordering silver coins is much easier and less risky and should work just fine most of the times!
