Common obverse: Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi, Samoan head of state.

Designs: Obverse by Vladimir Gottwald; reverses of the 10, 20, 50 sene and 2 tala by Wojciech Pietranik; reverse of the 1 tala by Aaron Baggio.

The 2 dollar design of 2012 was based on the 1977 designed from the 5 dollar collector coin.

That design was the work of David Thomas for the Royal Mint (UK).

Here you see the full set that was minted by RAM.

Apart from the $5 coin, the designs were the work of James Berry for the Royal Mint (UK) back in 1972.

Horst Hahne of RAM produced the original design for the $2 coin back in 1987.
