Saptagram (Bengali: সপ্তগ্রাম; colloquially called Satgaon) was a major port on river Saraswati , the chief city and sometimes capital of southern Bengal, in ancient and medieval times, the location presently being in the Hooghly district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is about 4 km from Bandel.
In old Bengali literature like Manasamangal (15th century), the name of Saptagram was present. Traveler Ibn Battuta visited Satgaon in 1350. The Portuguese started coming to Saptagram from the early 16th century.
The port is no more as the river Saraswati, started to dry up in 17th century and now fully silted. The port moved to Kolkata in 18th/19th century, at present, Kolkata port is also mostly defunct and port activity moved to further south in Haldia near another ancient port of Tamralipta/Tamluk.

Very nice specimen, beautifully preserved.
The obverse margins have the beginning of the full obverse legend Jalal al-Dunya (top, majesty/glory of the world), wa al-Deen (right, and the religion) Abu'l Muzaffar (left, father of the victorious) and then the legend in the central square. The mint name is in the bottom margin, inscribed as ستگانو (which in Farsi would be pronounced as Satganu).
