A new 1,000 Vatu banknote has been issued by Reserve Bank of Vanuatu commemorating 40th Anniversary of Independence. Unlike with preceding issues wherein the first two digits of the serial number represent the last two digits of the year of printing, the 40 on these notes represents the 40th anniversary.
