In 2014 Angola issued a circulating commemorative coin.

It was bimetallic, having a nickel-plated steel center within a brass-plated steel ring.


It commemorated Queen Rainha Njinga A Mbande.

They celebrated the 40th anniversary of Angola's independence.


The 50 kwanzas coin was made of nickel-clad steel.

Again it had an attractive motif on the reverse.

The 100 kwanzas coin was made of brass-plated steel.

This time the word 'kwanzas' was capitalised on both coins of the set.


The common obverse design featured a soldier and a peasant raising the national flag.
