Intriguing old coins from Honduras

Interesting design. Why does the obverse show '25 CMOS' (presumably 25 centimos) above 'UN PESO' ?

Look at these tiny heads? What strange inhuman practices were the Hondurans indulging in, in those days?

I think it is Gmos from gramos.
