Mexican mole is great!  OK, I need to start on dimes soon to get us back on track :-)

Bruce, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a MS63 and a MS65.  I'm going off the 2020 US Coin Digest.  Wavy steps in that condition can go as much as $160.

The key is hot sauce!  I'll put it on just about anything...not chocolate cake, though.  Have to draw a line somewhere ;-)
I never was a good grader either, especially for the sliders that were either XF-58 or Ms-60 / 61. I could never get it straight in my mind whether I was looking at some minor rub or just a poor strike.

When I had my US collection I'd always buy slabbed coins that were graded by professionals and were probably graded correctly. The minor issues I'd grade myself but the high end stuff like the early federal silver I'd buy in slabs from legitimate TPG's...preferably, PCGS or NGC. Though they made mistakes occasionally, they could generally be relied on for their accuracy.

I don't know about the hot sauce, Greg. Usually brings fire to my belly. Reminds me of my years with RCA when we used to go on the road to do radar mods. One of the engineers I traveled with loved hot food and would load that stuff on everything he ate. He'd look to be suffering something horribly...sweating, red face, painful moaning and groaning and such, but he couldn't get enough of it. ::)

That's just a great nickel, Dale. It looks to be near full-step which makes it even nicer.

BTW, I just happened to notice on the plain 1939 there's a variety with doubling showing on" Monticello" and "Five Cents". It's fairly obvious too. I hadn't seen that before.

Here's an image of the doubling on the 1939. PCGS estimates there's from 1,000 to 1,500 examples out there, most in circulated grades. I don't know if this variety wasn't recognized until years after it was issued or just why there isn't more high grade pieces known.
