I have to buy a new smartphone soon, but what about making coin photos? I have an iphone SE, four years old, and it's almost at its end. I want to make o.k. coin photos for World of Coins and for Zeno (larger than 128k!), but do you have an advice for me about which model I should try?
The iphone 11Pro is much advocated.

Here are some pics of the same Samanid fals for comparison.

The cameras in all smart phones have been developed to the point where all of them make acceptable coin photos. AFAIK, all are little robots that do the exposure and lens settings for you. Most, if not all, have sophisticated software that can do automatic optimisation, further adjustment and special effects, so separate software is superfluous for daily use, but not for coin photography. Your job is just to find the right quantity and angle of light and - in the case of coins - holding the device still enough.

For coins, enlargement is key. This means you may want to compare optical zoom (you can disregard digital zoom. It enlarges at the cost of sharpness). Otherwise, it is probably best to concentrate on other uses that are important to you. In my own case, due to receding eyesight, I went for an iPhone 8+, which has a large screen. It makes most excellent coin pictures. If you are thinking of buying an iPhone again, Apple will let you compare the specifications of any pair of models on their site. Even if you like buying in a 3D shop, it's good to be well prepared.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
