Sultanate of Gujarat? I need help...
« on: June 28, 2020, 09:56:13 PM »
Dears,
first of all, congratulations on the website.
I'm writing to ask help to identify this coin
I think is from Gujiarat, 1 1/2 falus may be, but I'm not an expert about ancient coin.
It's around 16,5 x 17,5 mm and 14,2 g
Thank you in advance for any help.

Kindly regards
Andrea

You are right for 1 1/2 falus of Gujarat , I think that it's the ref. Goron & Goenka G378
legible on top picture : parts of"Bahadur Shah (bin) Muzaffar Shah"
"All I know is that I know nothing" (Socrates)

Dear Saro,
thank you so much for reply. I'm not able to see if there is a date on my coin, can you see some numbers?
Sorry for the ignorance I have of this historical period and in general for the medieval history of India. You wrote me that it is legible part of "" Bahadur Shah (bin) Muzaffar Shah "". If I understand correctly Bahadur Shah was the son of Muzaffar Shah II and reigned between 1526 and 1535 and then again between 1536 and 1537, is that correct?
Thank you again for your time.
Greetings from Italy
Andrea

Dear Andrea, yes we spoke well about the same Bahadur : "Qutb al-din Bahadur Shah" son of Muzaffar Shah II.
According to G&G, the full legends of your coin are :
obverse (lower picture) :al Sultan abu'l fadl qutb al-dunya wa'l din ال سلطان ابوالفظل قطب الدنیا والدین "
reverse : Bahadur Shah bin Muzaffar Shah al-Sultan"
a single date is known : 934 AH (not visible on yours) , listed as scarce
"All I know is that I know nothing" (Socrates)

Dear Saro,
thank you again for the informations, I really appreciated your help. I have another coin that I can't identify, but this time I have no idea: I will make a new post in the next few days and I hope the Community could help me again.

Best regards
Andrea
