Seychelles islands, numismatic geographical research
« on: June 27, 2020, 10:50:52 AM »
I decided to collect by geography, all tokens and exonumia which is associated with the Seychelles. It turned out to be quite curious. If someone is already interested in this issue, please join the topic and post interesting materials.
I managed to find various tokens that correspond to the various islands on the Seychelles.

I wonder how they are divided by islands.

I found a variety of tokens for Praslin Island, Seychelles islands.

There are more than a seven varieties of tokens. For example, this:

I have a very soft spot for this archipelago. Outsiders know it mostly for revolutions, that determine which family's turn it is to pocket "development aid" (I am convinced the episode "the official visit" of "Yes minister" is based on the Seychelles).

I have had the pleasure of meeting two Seychelloises, both claiming to descend from a French pirate with flowery family names such as Jorre de Saint Jorre. They were both charming and they introduced me to the sea coconut, a noteworthy tree figuring on Seychellois coins that produces male and female fruits, both quite pornographic.

Peter,
I collected all possible fantasy home-made and unusual & unofficial issues of “coins” for Seychelles, it’s very interesting, and this is real pornography, which I nevertheless also collected ..

I will show it a little later, in this thread, also  :)

ps. in our language the word "pornography" applies to everything that does not have the right to a decent existence .. ))

I can assure you that the objects of nature shown in "Photo collage showing the female coco de mer fruit with no husk as well as the male coco de mer catkin" shown here have acquired a decent and rather colourful existence centuries ago.

Most pieces are casino tokens. I know of 7 gaming tokens and more than 40 chips.

Of all the tokens I managed to find, I found only three separate islands: Mahe Island, Praslin Island, Eden Island.

Do you know about the existence of similar tokens for other individual islands in the Seychelles?

What about this one?

These are Seychelles but only the specific island is not specified ;

in that case, maybe you are also interested in exonumia / fantasies?

The fact is that several different enthusiasts from China have issued some other Seychelles in the form of coin-shaped tokens with denominations.
Personally, I am interested in this, I just track and do not buy, and do not take it for a real coin, but I consider it amusing incidents..
