18,30g / 32mm
An intersting large civic copper of Rasht dated 1239 on which the usual reverse design is replaced by a short couplet  praising the dignity.
curiously, the date is inverted (mirror image)  ???
This coin is listed by B.Alaedini p.90 (same inverted date)
The flan is uneven and shows an oblique milling.

For those who tried to decipher the text of the reverse...fortunately B. Alaedini gives this transcription :"  عزت  بقناعت است و خاری بطلب  "
in which the word " خواری "  has been replaced by " خاری "
I suppose it has here the same signification and could give something like :"the dignity is the contentment and  ask is contempt "
this shortened sentence is the 1st part of a distich.

a not at all common civic copper... and the largest I possess.

I was wondering if this was overstruck on another foreign coin, such as this one as it's of a similar size.

But the reeding on the edge of this one would tend to suggest it isn't.

Your coin of Isfahan is really stunning ! it's likely a presentation coin with special re-engraved reverse die ?
For this falus of Rasht, there is no trace of print from a previous coin; the one shown by Alaedini is in same condition, with a full legible legend, slightlly smaller (30,3mm / 16,18g) but not struck from the same dies; no mention of reeding on edge ?
