On June 16, a new series of commemorative 50 pence coins will be issued to commemorate Peter Pan. It will be the last series with this theme. The coins will be produced at Tower Mint and released by the Westminster Collection.

Text-heavy designs again. Is it a trend?

The release of the coins has been postponed because of delays at Tower Mint related to COVID-19*. They are now expected to be released on Friday although nothing is certain.

*If Tower Mint really wanted to, they could have just produced these coins in time. Instead they have some time ago chosen to temporarily postpone all general production and instead produce ten thousands of COVID-19 related coins to then later catch up again with the production that was already planned. Never waste a good crisis.

More 'confetti' coins from IOM.
It wouldn't be so bad if they bore a connection to the island.

The 2020-dated Peter Pan 50p coins are as of today also available in coloured base-metal versions. The set can be seen here. In 2020, the coins were only released in plain base-metal and coloured silver editions.
