Tired of seeing lots of newly made fakes on ebay I did try to make a contemperary forgery . Just to try to see how difficult it would be . See the 5 minutes video here : Can i make a contemperary forgery coin - YouTube .
I know that most members here will write but it is badly made. But rememebr that I was trying to make a forgery that should look like a forgery from 1963 .

Mods ( Peter andd Davidr) if it is not ok with Video , i will delete the post and leave a message and i will try to make some pictures .

Fun video scm! Thanks for posting. Thanks even more for providing a sense of perspective on "contemporary" fakes. As always, it doesn't matter what you collect, it matters that you know what the status of your pieces is.

How much time did it take to produce the Katanga "contemporary" fake?

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

making the 5 katange took maybe 4 to 5 evenings . However the biggest problem was to be able to poor the metal in the very small opening of the mold.  It is almost like math, the amount of metal effects the flowrate and how it will come out when poored.

when i could do that it was just a matter of making enough air channels for the hot air to escape, finding the right amount of baby powder .  Then i had to get some gold leafs and learn to do some gilding.

A few weeks later i wanted to make a copy of a square coin and that took less then 1 hour
