This one is an Alamgir-II coin that has ruler's name, date and mint visible on flan.

I like the tilted 7 but wonder why it was done this way. I'd have tilted it slightly to the left instead. Most excellent picture.

Thanks Amit and Peter. That "7" is really cute I agree. This tilt can be seen on some IPS coins also!

An excellent coin. Goes on to show that the coins with Alamgir written on it are indeed Alamgir ii and not Alamgir i as claimed by multiple auctions. All coins with Alamgir written should be Alamgir ii. On rare coins of Alamgir I (Aurangzeb), the word Aurangzeb is written on the coin. Like silver issues, Aurangzeb elichpur coppers are very rare!!

Do read this thread to distinguish the elichpur issues of Alamgir I from Alamgir ii
Aurangzeb- Elichpur . Dispelling the confusion! Alamgir ii or Alamgir I

I agree that most of the Elichpur coppers must be of Alamgir-II. I think they exist in two weight standards. Please highlight their weight standard also.

Incidentally I should be thankful to Mr.L.Dennison, one of my numismatics friends and a fellow member of our local Philatelic And Numismatic
Association (PANA) based at Trivandrum, the state capital of Kerala. He was kind enough to present this coin to me as a compliment. He in turn procured it from the city of Indore some time back. I am very happy that it unveils a little mystery of history!

Thanks Dr.Abishek for demystifying the confusion on Elichpur coppers. We wish to see few more coins if possible on these lines.

I wish if you could throw some light on Macchlipatan coppers of later Mughals (with or without date) and similar looking issues of Arkot.
Thank you.
