I acquired this copper/bronze 2cm coin weighing 4g. From searching around it matches the civic copper falus of Persian or Afghanistan. The lion to right with head turned back; dotted circle. The reverse Arabic letters are not clear (worn).   Can someone please provide information as to ruler, provenance, date, mint etc. (need not be exact as long as the country, region can be identified). Almost all other falus with similar lion figure are much heavier (10-18g) compared to this. Thanks!

Hi Yperera, and welcome to WoC !

I would agree with your rough attribution. Hope that one of our experts can shine their light on this one for a more specific answer!

It'll be hard. No text on the lion side and the lower line looks more like a scimitar than a calligraphed letter, while the rest of the text is vague at best. Could there be aq date just above the divider or scimitar?

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Not easy indeed !
I would say that it is likely more persian than afghan.
A copper of Rasht shows a similar lion (see here)but the weight of your coin is one fourth; the design could also have been used by another mint ? however, the remains of letters are not incompatible with Rasht  ???
