Remi Three Brothers
« on: March 22, 2020, 10:01:11 AM »
I don't know for certain that this coin shows three brothers, but it seems likely. Two brothers can be strong, as comrades. But three brothers - they must be invincible.

Potin Remi 60-40 BC. Obv. Three heads t.l. with text OVVI. Rev. Biga with something like .EMO. 16 mm, 2.55 gr.

Really charming coin. Having two brothers, three can also quarrel a lot !
Looks like this was cast ? And then polished by time.

Yes, a cast potin, these typically have smooth surfaces.
If these brothers were quarreling, they wouldn't have looked so serenely in one direction...

Perhaps they just cannot stand to look in their brothers' eyes. ;-)

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
