Hi,
One of the best example of paisa from mint of Dholera is being posted for collectors. Seldom such brilliant legends are found. This is perhaps the only copper coin where the issuing authority is clearly mentioned as ' Kampani bahadur' or 'The gallant company'. Normally the obverse legend is too truncated to appreciate the legends
Obverse- (Falus Sar)kar Kampani Bahadur. (The legend in bracket is out of flan)
Reverse-  Dholera.

Beautiful coin, Doc. Deserves to be in my collection.............but has been described as a KP (believe it or not).

That should be a joke! With the minting authority and dates found on the coin with clear mint, terming these as KPs would be a bad joke! I wonder if tomorrow Ahmedabad mint coins also are called KPs . However, I might add that I have encountered some crude versions of this coin. Those can be KPs. But this one should be a EIC issue

KP ???

I don't suppose it refers to Krause Publications. ;)

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Have you learnt nothing young man!!  ;D

It means in this context an unofficial piece (Kachha Paisa) , which as abhinumis states would be odd when the issuing authority is quite clearly written on it.
