The Government of Gibraltar will soon release a 50 pence coin to commemorate the British children's book Guess How Much I Love You. The coin will depict the big Nutbrown Hare with the Little Nutbrown Hare holding onto his ears. The denomination will be located above the design and the inscription GUESS HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU below the design.

This coin has yesterday been released in coloured copper nickel diamond finish and non-coloured silver proof. Over 80% of the mintage has now been sold: Gibraltar | British Pobjoy Mint

It is a pity that this is a purely pictorial coin. It commemorates nothing.

Very appealing piece, eurocoin, but I see your point.

The first Guess How Much I Love You 50p that was released earlier this year. The base metal version was only released coloured. The silver proof version did not have colour on it.

Following the success of the first coin, Pobjoy Mint is soon going to issue a second Guess How Much I Love You 50p. The coin will again depict the Queen's portrait on its obverse while that is officially not allowed as there is no connection between Gibraltar and the Guess How Much I Love You book.

The reverse design of the new coin will be very similar to the image below:

Not my preferred kind of coin, but it seems there is an occasion - sort of: "Marking the 25th Anniversary of the Iconic book Guess How Much I Love You" ... which would have been last year. ;D

By the way, the author (Sam McBratney) died just one month ago. But I don't think that is the reason for issuing a second piece with that theme.

Pobjoy Mint has now given friends and family related to the Guess How Much I Love You book the opportunity to put in orders before the coins go on sale. Below you can see what the coin will look like. It will come in 2 versions, basemetal coloured and silver non-coloured.

There were even 3 versions: also non coloured base metal (cupronickiel). Unfortunatelly, I noticed this too late. Sold out very quickly.

Interesting, I was not aware of this.

Email them to be added to the waiting list, if you have not yet done so. I have heard they have had quite a few cancellations as somehow many people submitted their order multiple times.

I wrote to PM asking for coloured and I'm on waiting list (when wanted to buy website not worked which is now quite normal each time with low mintage issues).

Both Cu-Ni versions were mentioned in distribution email at very bottom of message... I noticed this next day... so I wrote again but waiting list was already closed for non coloured.
