Dear jsalgado, your coin:
India, Mughal Empire, Jalal ed-din Mohammed Akbar, AH 988 (1580 AD), AR Rupee, dar al-Saultanat Lahore mint (AH 963-1014/1556-1605 AD)
Obverse, second photo: Inside square, top line reads: خلد الله تعالى ملكه "khallad Allah te'ala mulkahu", meaning, May Allah on high perpetuate his Kingdom.
The center reads: جلال الدين محمد اكبر بادشاه غازى , "Jalal al-Din Mohammed Akbar Badshah Ghazi".
Date “ 988 ۹۸۸ “   at top center. Mint name: " ضرب دار السلطنه لاهور Zarb Dar al-Sultanat - Lahore" written at the bottom.
Reverse, first photo:, written in the center of tilted square:
لا اله الا الله محمد رسول الله , la ilaha illa l-Lahi Muḥammadan rasulu l-Lahi , Shahada in center, “There is no other god but Allah and Muhammad is the last messenger of Allah”.
Four caliphs names outside at the corners:
Top right  ابا بكر , Abu Bakr

Dear jsalgado, I am still in doubt about the mint name, it could be " dar al-Khilafat Agra ". The mint name needs confirmation.

The transcription is  correct but it's a muslim token : a crude copy of an Akbar coin, and not a mughal rupee.
This token is listed by Brotman : Type 1 n°3  (he well read the mintname as "Lahore", as suggested by Maythem.)
