Sudan, 1972 CE/AH 1392, 5 millim. And you may find it helpful to know that Farsi is mainly spoken in Iran and Afghanistan, so if it were Yemeni, it would be in Arabic. But it's definitely Sudanese. Your reverse is upside down, but below the big 5 are the words 'five millim' written out in Arabic (I think). KM #54.

Having never been to the Sudan I can only think I picked that coin up in either Somalia or Uganda.  Thanks for the information :-)   (I'll have to tell you about my Uganda monkey encounter some time!)

I encountered Sudanese and their coins in the South of Egypt. I was quite taken by the Sudanese I met there. Tall, quiet, proud, friendly, hospitable. Their wide-eyed, serious children who'd break into a lovely smile on receiving a gift and run away with it. The kind of people you remember long after you met them.

Coin collecting has a curious name. It is also called the "Hobby of Kings".

Maythem, thank you very much for the translation!  I did know it wasn't Farsi but the mind wonders :-)  Interestingly I've never been to The Sudan so I have to wonder were I picked this one up.  Egypt or Saudi Arabia perhaps.  Maybe Somalia.  Not sure.

Peter, could you move this one?  If you could delete the upside down up top I'd be grateful :-)
