Can anyone tell me what this is?
« on: December 01, 2019, 01:22:39 AM »
We got this in change while shopping today (in Los Angeles). Amazingly, it was passed off as nickel by the clerk. My collecting focus is ancients and I have no idea if this modern piece is an actual coin or is a token/charm. It's quite pretty, looks like it's bronze, is 19 mm in diameter, and weighs 2.98 g.

Anyone know what it is? Was it worth 5 cents? :)

Thanks, Mike

Modern tourist souvenir. The two (sloppy) vertical characters should have been the era name. They may be a good wish or similar. The piece looks struck.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
