Spotted in the Paris mint museum reserve

IMG_0351 The chest of a paymaster in Binh Dinh province, French Indo China
IMG_0354 Small box with scales, weights and a table of weights of commonly circulating European coins
IMG_0355 Precision scales on beautifully inlaid box. The label on top says "Cour des Monnoyes / 1773 / Dalmas Fecit" The Cour des monnaies is the royal oversight committee for the mints. Dalmas is of course the proud maker of the scales. In the background, drawers containing the coins of the museum's collection.
IMG_0357 Unlabelled brass scales. Style looks 1920-ish

Lovely.

I was curious to read the label on the chest of the paymaster, here it is again but I'm not much wiser!

Some cool stuff you got to see there! ;) And yes, that box with the intarsia (?) looks interesting by itself ...
