Telephone token from Uganda
« on: November 19, 2019, 09:30:38 AM »
A very informative piece, well catalogued. Yet, you hardly ever see it offered. Never mind, here it is, ready for a section in WoT. It took a German professor who visits Uganda regularly, meeting a Dutchman living in France to get it on this page. Ain't it sumpin'?

There are a total of three Ugandan telephone tokens one of which is very hard to come by. Afrasi is keen to find the latter, I think 50/-, so he may have the 20/-.

I have the 5/- but I missed out on these recently at DNW sale.

Page created on WoT.

The public phone on the atmosphere picture is broken. The guy sitting next to it is selling minutes on his own mobile phone, firmly attached to his body, to disappointed would-be callers. People like him have a vested interest in the public phones being out of order. This may explain why reportedly all public phones in Kampala are out of order.  :)
