As from Friday (1 November 2019) Christine Lagarde will be the president of the European Central Bank. She will replace Mario Draghi whose eight year term comes to an end. So the euro notes issued after that date will have Lagarde's signature. Will post images ... at some point. :)

I was looking at the Eurobilltracker forum recently and was surprised to see that nobody was talking about this. The popularity of that hobby also seems to have gone downhill rapidly.

May well be that fewer people participate these days. I used to be an active EBTer but do not enter new notes these days, for various reasons. Partly because I had very few hits only, but also because the meanings of the codes have changed so that checking (where was this printed, and which NCB commissioned the production?) has become less attractive for me. And my eyesight does not get better either, so reading the tiny short code has become difficult.

Lagarde and her signature is being discussed over there however ... een klein beetje. ;)

I was also an active EBT'er for some time. For me the number of hits was disappointing too, only 13 on 1,200 registered notes, only one of which was above 500km (München). I still register notes on there a few times a year, in the rare occasions that I get to handle a large amount of notes.

You mean Euro notes printed after 01-Nov-2019, don't you?  ;)

By the way, the production figures of Euro banknotes for 2020 have been released on the ECB's web-site today.

Umm, errr ... euro notes that will leave the printing works after that date. 8) Yeah, you're right. It may in fact take quite a bit of time until we actually see the first Lagarde notes.

Considering the relatively high numbers of €10, €20 and €50 notes ordered for 2020 I suspect we will see the first notes with Lagarde's signature in the first quarter of 2020. My guess: March 2020.

Today she practiced a little. ;) This is Christine Lagarde's speech at the ECB today (text, English). And here are some images of her signing a €20 note. Two clippings are attached below.
