The Royal Mint has released the 2 unrealised designs it made for the Brexit 50 pence coin, the project known inside the mint as Project Walker.

A slightly different design, with "Peace, commerce and friendship with all nations", instead of "Peace, prosperity and friendship with all nations".

A version with the coat of arms of the United Kingdom.

I like the coat of arms one, though not much of a reference to Brexit.

Who's Walker, the designer?

I don't know why they gave the project that name.

It sounds like a civil service code name. After all, we will be walking away from the EU - not running, so that it implies a calm withdrawal - or so it is hoped. Note the US code name for UFOs: "fast walkers".

Excellent finds, BTW.

Fine, but where is the reference to Brexit? Regardless of when it will actually happen, shouldn't there be some kind of placeholder on the submitted designs? Such as "DD MM YYYY" ...

The designs indeed do not refer to Brexit. To what extent using the word 'Brexit' on the coin was possible, I do not know as it appears to be trademarked for the use on coins in the UK by some trademark troll. At least the issued coins will have the date of Brexit on them:

Another 1st of April post? Released 18 days too late?

Or maybe the brexit issue meanwhile causes so much distrust in my perception that i can´t take anything serious after reading this word.
