Good news about that ... errm, last year's coin. ;) A little late, but good news from a country that has otherwise been struggling with cash supply.

I'm back after a long, long time... Was away from coins for quite some time :(

I'll be looking for the entire set in coming weeks, haven't checked e-bay to see how much it would cost, but I'm definitely getting it!

The entire set is rather expensive ''thanks'' to the very low mintage of the Maltese coins (last time I checked it was in the €70-€80 price range). Furthermore, the way Belgium and The Netherlands released their coins makes these two also a bit expensive (in the €15-€30 range).

Health indeed was one of the issue, caught Covid thrice (two of those were post vaccination), had very severe side reaction of the vaccine which lasted for about two months (in 2021) and couple of other non-health related reasons kept me away from coins for a while which I really missed. Now health is much better, but still not as good as it used to be before Covid, still facing bad cough issue... :(

I was about to visit the Mumbai exhibition yesterday but our office had other plans, they asked us to compensate Good Friday's holiday yesterday so couldn't go, and have guests at home today so couldn't manage. Anyway, Mumbai exhibition does not have much of my ineterst so that's not a major miss for me, but certainly would have met collector friends after a long, long time!

That's bad, wasn't aware of the Maltese issue. Just checked with a trusted German dealer friend of mine and you are right, he's asking €79.90 for the Maltese version, €29.90 for the Dutch and €19.90 for the Belgian one... That's horrible, I got the complete EMU set for €90 or so IIRC, collecting even the €2 euro coins is no more affordable it seems...

Checked with another dealer who has the complete set (including Malta), he wants €199 (loose coins, €220 in case you want them in capsules) and €25 extra for international shipping... Seems like my first disappointment post long break is on the way...  ::)

Sorry to hear about those health issues, Aditya, but it is good to "see" you back here! Like many others, I have had my Covid exposures too - four vaccinations, one infection - but the shots caused no issues at all. The infection, well ... Hope this will be, by and large, be over now, and that you get "back to normal" at some point.

Prices of €2 commems have indeed become a problem. Some euro area member states still issue them as originally intended – mostly for circulation and at face, plus so and so many BU/proof pieces. Others however issue expensive surcharged €2 commems only. That, and the sheer multitude of issues every year, made me reduce my wish list. ;D  Pieces that are issued only to "milk" collectors I now ignore ... and do I really have to have 19 or 23 mildly different versions of the Erasmus coin? Nah.

The first Belgian 2 euro coins Erasmus programme have been reported found in circulation. It was the last coin in the series that still had to enter circulation. Due to delays at Royal Dutch Mint, it was not possible to release the coin last year.
