The item seems to have been cast in a shallow mould. The metal looks like silvered or painted on copper or possibly iron if it is magnetic. It does not compare to any coin I know, so, also in view of the highly uneven relief and the silence of other members, I would speculate that it is a decorative item, rather than a coin.

Looks more like a Sindh hemi-drachm. Look here.

Most excellent point, TH, but I am still worried by what looks like the upper layer of silver flaking off and showing a base metal underneath.

Hi guys
thanks for the information
Peter you suspicion it is flaking and showing a base metal is probably right after close inspection i think so also
As this coin should be in pure silver i think  :-\ i did check it is non magnetic.

Regards.
