Another Sasanian drachm, Ardashir I

Ardashir I (223-241), AR drachm. Obv. Helmeted bust to the right. On each side of the helmet, a dot. Rev. Fire altar without assistants, but with detailed supports left and right. 22 mm. 3.27 gr. Göbl III/2/2. Michener 790.

Very nice depth to the portrait. Interesting that there are no real attendants flanking the fire altar, as the supports do look a bit like the abstracted attendants on later Indo-Sasanian derivative coinage.
