Modern Forgery, Tibet, 5 Sho (Pattern), KM#PnA12
Stephen Album Rare Coins, Auction 34, 23-26 May 2019.
PCGS graded Specimen 65.
Note: The lot was withdrawn from sale at auction after the expertise of W. Bertch.
Coin analysis (W. Bertch):
"Small dot below west-symbol; left foreleg with three claws and three hairs, fishes (northeast) with plain skin, eyes of lion without central dot (genuine coins are without the dot below west-symbol, with left forelegs having three claws and four hairs, fishes have dotted skin, eyes of lion with central dot), features which are also found with the coin ex ebay.
I would like to give the name “blind lion type” to this forgery."
Bottom photo - Genuine coin from the Rhodes collection (Sold for USD 14,190).
