« on: May 15, 2019, 12:16:13 PM »
Some time this year Monaco will issue a commemorative €2 coin honoring Prince Honoré IV who died 200 years ago. When France annexed Monaco in 1793, shortly after the revolution, Honoré was arrested in Paris for about 20 years. Once Napoleon was defeated, Talleyrand - suddenly being a loyal French royalist - suggested that Honoré should get his principality back, and the Vienna Congress made that decision. The coin will probably have a mintage of 15,000. More "later" ...

The coin will be available as from Thursday (12 Sep). Not sure about the price but from what I have read, the coin plus postage will be roughly €150 ...

Quote from the Numismatic Office's website: "A beautiful 2 € proof coin will soon be available for sale, the limited issue allows only one purchase per person registered." An image of the piece is attached; have not seen a larger one yet.

Maybe it is about time that collectors unite again like we did in 2013. At least back then following the pressure some improvements were made. As you know amongst others suddenly a 2 euro commemorative of Monaco was released into general circulation for the first time ever.
