Swiss Cantons TICINO 4 Franchi KM# 6
« on: April 15, 2019, 11:01:08 PM »
Dear gentlemen,

Perhaps you know how to translate an inscription "XIX CANT" from the shield of Swiss soldier of 4 Franchi Ticino 1814, KM# 6 | CoinBrothers Catalog

My wild guess that it is a number of the canton in the Swiss Confederation.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Switzerland had 19 cantons from 1803 (Act of Mediation) to 1815 (accession of the three French speaking cantons of Valais, Neuchâtel and Genève). That fits in nicely with the date on the coin.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
