This is another coin listed as common but seemingly rarely seen

both sides reading upwards:-

Obv: firuz sultani
Rev: Hadrat Dehli

Very nice coin, excellent patina. Congratulations on finding it.

Strangely, I just created an entry for an Algerian token that read in part upwards. Is it a fact of life, an old tradition or something else to write that way?

The script reading upwards seems quite random among the Dehli Sultans,  also it's often seen on coins of Gujarat and some of the other Sultanates
