The Governor of the Central Bank of Somalia told me in a private conversation some time ago that they were working on new notes first and only after that new coins would be released. No new notes have as yet been issued so it may still be a long wait, if ever. They are currently searching for a new governor of their central bank which may also have delayed things.

The new governor has been appointed.

Perhaps one step nearer to new circulation coins.

This set of commemorative coins of 1979 celebrated the tenth Anniversary of the Republic. It was produced by the Royal Mint (UK).
