2.50 g
22 mm

I can't find this denomination in the Internet.
And this all issue is quite scarce, as I can understand.

So I'd decided to upload fine pictures of the token.

There are questions, if you please:
1. What is known about "Verein Ceres"?
2. How the token was used?
3. How can it be dated?

The Verein Ceres is listed in the Menzel Catalog (edition 2018). The entry reads as follows:
14462. VEREIN CERES (Konsumverein)
HEUSENSTAMM
o.J., bds. (WZ), Rs.
"PFENNIG/MARK"
1 1 Ms, 16,4 mm,  35.-
2 5 Ms, 18,0 mm,  35.-
3 1 Ms, 25,1 mm,  35.-

The value 50 pfennig is not listed although 1 and 5 pfennig and 1 Mark are.

According to: W.Hasselmann, Die Consumverein - Wethmarke (Munster 1981), this Konsumverein was active during the years 1893-1900 and it had 190 members.

These tokens were sold to members of the Konsumverein who could then use them in either shops operated by the Konsumverein or other selected shops to buy food (bread, meat, milk, groceries etc.)

Tokens were sold cheaper than indicated on them denomination?
Or why they were needed?

Difficult question, because there are so many possibilities. Unless there is written evidence, we can only speculate. The two variables we can use are "Konsumverein" and the known denominations.

Konsumverein is important for what it is not: a cooperative. In this time, a coop is a socialist organisation that helps the poor through solidarity. That excludes a bread or milk token a handout and distribution of profits. On the other hand, a Verein (club) is not a business, so it is possible that they are proof of purchase to obtain discounts.

Known denominations are 1, 5, 50 pfennig and 1 mark. It is likely that a 10 pfennig was also issued. That would not be suitable denominations for small consumptions of ready-made drinks like coffee or beer, but it would be close to the circulation of current coins (the 20 an 25 pfennig coins were not popular and the 2 pfennig is not vital). The tokens are therefore likely to have been used to distinguish between members, paying a membership fee and getting a discount and non-members, paying full price. It is safer to calculate the discount after a period of purchases, rather than before, so it is more likely that they were proof of purchase than sold below par.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
