5000 TUGRIK NOTE WITH UPGRADED PROTECTION ELEMENT

Date: 2018/12/28

With its exclusive right to issue currency into circulation, the Bank of Mongolia is committed to maintain an appropriate structure of currency circulation, issue, ship, and create a currency reserve. In addition, the BoM is also committed to take anti-counterfeiting measures. Counterfeit money in Mongolia is usually issued in banknotes with higher nominal value, such as 5000, 10000 and 20000 tugrik notes. Therefore, the Bank of Mongolia is continuously working to improve the first level protection of directly identifiable elements.

In this framework, the Bank of Mongolia has taken measures to issue new 5000 MNT note with using the latest technology elements. This new element is virtually impossible or too costly to imitate.

With the introduction of the 3-dimensional technology and the Spark Inkjet element, the Soyombo on the real currency will have a distinctive feature, which changes color with the movement, from the counterfeit currency.

The BoM is ready to issue the renewed 5,000 MNT into currency circulation, and it is planning to distribute it in the first quarter of 2019 according to the relevant order of the Governor of the Bank of Mongolia.

The previous 5000 tugrik’s note will remain valid.
