For a handful of silver
« on: January 09, 2019, 11:31:45 PM »
Last month, a very important collection of Parthian coins were stolen. Some easy to recognise coins are here. More are here. If ever thieves deserved being caught, it is this type, that destroys our common human heritage for some money. Inform the site owner even in case of doubt, please. Thank you in advance.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

There's not much known about the robbery. It happened almost at the same time as the Leu auction robbery. Probably there's no relation. Only greed without any interest for the legacy these coins are bearing. It's very sad - coins lovingly put together 2000 years after they were made, and now, maybe, destroyed on a whim. Maybe they will turn up again in a decade or two, let's hope for that. It's history, not treasure.
