« on: November 24, 2018, 07:39:58 PM »
Hi All! Today I am presenting my George 1/4 anna 1911 Calcutta mint (buyed on ebay for 10 dollars), this coin show the "Pig elephant" on the king's robe. Some scarce coin, although mintage is huge: 55,918,000, so I dont know why...
How you grade this coin? - xf?

Please share your coins...

There is good information on the 1911 coins here and here plus a goofy story and some good links here. Actually, there's more still. Search the site on "pig elephant" if you are still thirsty for knowledge.

As for your coin, the elephant is clear, but the king is a bit worn (don't forget that during the Durbar he sat in the heat with that coat on ;)), his behind is much better, which is normal for type. I'd give it F-VF, but the eye of the beholder is mightier than the TPG.
