A sympathetic study. It gives a good idea of the (loose, family-based) structure of a minor branch of industry that has and disappeared in time. In the process, the study provides interesting illustrations, including the successive seats of the Brussels mint.

One aspect that would profit from further study is the participation of women. As could be expected, it is minor to non-existent in the study, but there is an exception: in the small section on cast medals, there are a significant number of them.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
