2Qs plz..
1. whats the price of each of these coins?
2. where can i get it from? going to mint armed with a DD from a govt bank is not a preferred option...

and 3Q..
whats is NCLT? :)

Bimat

NCLT stands for Non Circulating Legal Tender.See more discussion here: http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/index.php/topic,1849.0.html

You have to order the proof/UNc set from mint,or you may buy it directly from dealer, but you will have to pay a premium. If Mumbai mint has issued this set,you can pay using a credit card, too. For that, you will have to create an account there.I think Calcutta mint also accepts credit card payments, not very sure.

thx aditya... sometimes its easier to get coins from far of places than your own country...  maybe i will have to restrict myself to CLT (Circulating legal tender) coins in india :D

As the article mentions accurately - Dr Manmohan Singh does indeed lead a frugal lifestyle. But then the fact that he does know about non circulating legal tenders is a bit far fetched to me, especially since he was once the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, not to mention Chairman of the Planning Commission and Finance Minister of the Government of India.

Mujahid,
Don't forget that Manmohan Singh was also a signatory of 1 Rupee notes in the late 1970's as well.

Aidan.

Hi Sanjay,

Thanks for the information. Any idea on how to proceed with the bookings. Their websites don't have any information. I have visited http://www.mumbaimint.org/ (looks like the domain squatter is still in control)  and  http://203.76.168.43/India/store/

Now we may expect the Gur Ta Gaddi commemorative in circulation standards...

Well, I picked up 2 of the coins from the dealer at the monthly meeting yesterday, at a small premium. The coin is well struck. Hope to see a few in circulation shortly.

The coin is already available on Ebay, but for Rs. 100/=. I don't think it is worth it. I have noted that after sometime, the prices of new coins fall very rapidly, and until and unless you need this coin immediately, there is no use paying Rs. 100/- for this coin.

Abhay,
I picked them up @ Rs 25 each and the guy had a bag which could have been about 100 pcs. I believe that these may find their way into circulation soon and be available at par. However I chose to pick up 2 @ Rs 25 each in UNC condition.

Nice, I wouldn't mind picking them up for 25 each  ;D Not sure if it will be available with the Bangalore dealers when I visit them this coming weekend but one can always hope.

100 from eBay is a ridiculous price. I only buy from eBay when a coin is not available locally. I learnt this the hard way.

Regards,
The cross & IT issue were the general circulation issues. The first bimetalic Rs 10 commemorative coin is the Gur ti Gaddi. However, as of now, not heard if this will be issued for circulation. This will be the first known bimetalic commemorative issued for circulation.
