Basically I like the design. Not sure whether those two large stars have any particular significance (can you tell I'm not exactly a football expert?) but the player and the dynamic lines around him look good. However ...

... wouldn't it be wise to wait with such a design until Sunday? ;D

The design works quite well, Frizio. Why not send it to the French authorities? You'd be the first entry and you just never know. You can't win without trying.

French civil servants are particularly impolite (though improbably, I met only nice tax officials.) When they answer at all, they try their best to be as frustrating as possible so that you will give up contacting them. A French acquintance says to do the opposite: harass them until they react. She applied for a nice job in France Telecom and called them every other working day. They told her to stop calling. She didn't. She got the job. Maybe it helped that she has a sweet voice, belying her spiky character. :)

BTW, I know the Dutch mint employs foreign designers, but they recently changed owners.

Some time ago, the Dutch mint did a series of posts on their web site on a new coin. It featured to Spanish coin designers, working in Utrecht. I seem to remember one is no longer there, but I have no news of the other. However, the state has sold the Dutch mint to a Belgian commercial enterprise, so employment policies might have changed.

Vacancies are published here (in Dutch, use Google translate), but you can always send an open application.

As for the number of stars, the French mint just used it for a medal (no coin) that celebrates the new world champions. https://www.monnaiedeparis.fr/en/shop/medals-mini-medals/mini-medal-two-times-champion-of-the-world-cup-of-football-1998-2018-34-mm  They must have giant roosters there. :)
