NZ Post produces new Royal Wedding stamp and coin

New Zealand Post has released its official Royal Wedding stamps and coin.

Like the rest of the world, they had to wait until late in the night to see the secretive dress before adding it to the stamps and coin, ready for Sunday morning (local time).

New Zealand Post Head of Stamps Simon Allison said working a Royal Wedding is enjoyable, but far from simple.

"We know there's huge interest in this couple both in the UK and in New Zealand," he explained.

"So we wanted to make this stamp available to the New Zealand public as quickly as possible. And that's no easy task."

Both the coin and the stamps were designed by artist Dave Burke and inspired by New Zealand imagery, with a koru heart surrounding the couple, representing their unfurling future.

The $1 silver royal coin will set buyers back $149, while a book of stamps is $19.90.

From NZ Post's website:

The coin design reflects the close relationship that New Zealand has with the monarchy, as a Commonwealth nation. The centre of the coin features a printed image of the happily engaged couple. Surrounding the royal couple is a heart-shaped koru pattern and two red roses which are symbolic of each Harry (English rose) and Meghan (US rose).

Mintage limited to 1500.

You risk saccharine poisoning looking at that design. :P

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

I quite like the design...except the couple's portrait on the reverse. ;D
