Two coins from Central Asia // Identification help
« on: May 02, 2018, 04:42:21 PM »
Gentlemen,

I would appreciate any help with the identification of these two coins. I believe that both are from Central Asia but the particular country, year and ruler are unknown.

1. With something that looks like a star: weight 2.75 g, diameter 16 mm
2. With Arabic text and date: weight 2.4 g, diameter 17 mm

Thanks a lot!

Oh, thanks! I've added Peter's coin to the CoinBrothers catalog about a year ago (https://coin-brothers.com/catalog/coin3154) and now I've got it by a very strange coincidence. Life is full of surprises.

Any ideas about the second coin? Some experts think that it is an imitation of the Bukhara Tenga. The seller in his turn is sure that it is a Kokand Tenga, Muhammad Ali Khan, 1241AH (1825). But he is not capable to show any of this info on the coin.

I think the first one is overstruck. The host (?) originally showed a five-pointed star. The overstrike might be Aq Koyunlu, perhaps?
