Dietmar,
I have got most of the New Brunswick 1c. coins in my collection.

Both the 1864 1/2c. & the silver are elusive.I do have an example of the 1862 20c. coin though.

Aidan, I had purchased the coin at a time when the Internet was still a foreign word.
At that time I was glad to get this coin in this condition for 40.00 DM.
Today, in times of ebay etc., it is obviously easier and cheaper.

Dietmar,
The New Brunswick 1861 1c. coin is the commonest in the whole series from there.

I reckon that 40 Deutsche Marks was a way too high price for this coin.

I got one for around NZ$5! That was a few years back now.

It is hard to grade a coin from a picture, but I haven't found any signs of wear on this piece. KM catalogue quote is EF $14 UNC $100. DM 40 would have been around $18 at the time...

I have to agree with Peter, that's one of the nicest New Brunswick cents I've seen.
$18 is around £10 so I think that it was a good buy for one in that condition.
