I prefer the 1978 design, but I would have liked the palm tree to be retained.  :(

Comoros 5 francs 1984, 2017.jpg

With reference to the Comoros, 5 francs, 2017 image:

"Creative Commons Comoro Islands 5 francs 2017" by Jacques974, used under CC BY-NC-SA.

I have brightened and sharpened the original.

The coin on the left (1984) was made of aluminium and had a diameter of 31 mm.

The coin on the right (2017) is made of stainless steel and has a diameter of 15 mm.

Because the coin was reduced in size in 2017, elements of the legend have been rearranged.

The numeral '5' has been made bigger and moved further up the coin.

The year has  moved from the top of the coin to the bottom.

The year and the word "FRANCS" are shown in a larger font.

Certain pictorial elements, mainly the trees and the building, have been removed or changed.

This was done because there is less space on the smaller coin to fit all the original details.
